Elopement Shoot on the shores of the Northumberland coast
The dark stormy skies and rugged landscape of todays feature is absolutely breathtaking. With a backdrop so spectacular its easy to see why photographer Paula Smart from Wild Hearts Photography picked it for this elopement themed styled shoot. The detailing is gorgeous, from the soft layers of the brides dress, provided by Bex Brides, blowing in the wind, to the strong use of foliage and succulents in the design by Amy Crammond from Thoughts of You Flowers.
Paula says “At the heart of my inspiration for this shoot was simply this very bit of the Northumberland coastline. It is a place I love very much and I visit often, whether to shoot or just to ‘be’. It is such an unspoiled beautiful place, sometimes wild and rugged, but it also has wonderful views looking across Embleton Bay to the impressive ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle, and to the inner Farne Isles to the north. I’ve been planning this particular shoot in my head for almost a year and it eventually all came together. I got to work with a great team of people, though they were a bit bemused by the fact that this shoot involved us carting all the gear we needed in wheelbarrows over rolling and hilly sand dunes. This included the gorgeous ceremony arch! The styling by the dress designer and the florist was very different to the norm, which was exactly what I wanted and was perfect for this wintery coastal environment.
Sophie and Alex are a real couple. This was important to me because I just don’t believe you can truly replicate the chemistry shared by a real couple. Chris kindly stood in as a celebrant for me as our real-life celebrant couldn’t make it in the end – she had to attend a real wedding!
Sophie wore a stunning Soft tulle skirted with a simple bodice dress and a bespoke soft lace overskirt. This was layered with a bespoke sequin feather tulle veil cape, and a bespoke fringed velvet long cape. topped off with a hand felted wool wrap that was accessorised with vintage brooches. Her cascading bouquet was made from various succulents, eucalyptus (Cineria, Moorei, Glaucesens), olive foliage and wrapped in dark grey trailing ribbon. A matching buttonhole and foliage succulent crown were made to match and compliment the bouquet.”
We would like to thanks all of the talented suppliers who have been a part of this styled shoot. It is truly beautiful!
