What place can be more romantic than Paris to say “I Do”?? Amy and Jim opted to fly out to the city of love for a whimsical and romantic elopement wedding in Paris before heading off for a European adventure. Amy tells us all about their love story…
“Jim and I met six years ago in Denver Colorado. We worked for the same company and both had relocated out to Denver to start a new office for our company. Our relationship started as friends and progressed to something more quickly. Our years in Denver is such a special memory for us!
Jim proposed to me on Christmas Morning 2015. Jim had the ring wrapped in a bigger box to disguise the ring box under the tree. When I opened the box, it had a smaller ring box inside with some Hershey kisses to fill in. When I opened the box, Jim took the smaller box and said let me help with this one. I knew at that moment what was happening. I blacked out what he said that morning, I was so excited and emotional! Our families knew he was going to propose, so they were anxiously waiting to hear the news!
We went back and forth on what we envisioned for a wedding…did we want traditional, destination or to
truly elope. After a lot of thought, we landed on eloping and then planning a big party afterwards to celebrate with friends and family. We wanted our wedding day to be intimate and to be focused on our commitment to each other. We are also saw this as an opportunity to plan a big once in a lifetime trip before we start a family and knew we wanted to travel Europe. We landed on Paris for our wedding day. I traveled to Paris about 16 years ago and fell in love with the city. Its so romantic and beautiful! We landed on Italy for our honeymoon portion. Jim is Italian and we both have always wanted to experience Italy!
I spent a lot of time on Pinterest and got a lot of inspiration from other posts. We wanted to capture the Parisian feel in our big day, timeless beauty, romance and an intimate ceremony. We didn’t necessarily have a color scheme but kept the details neutral with ivory, blush tones and a little gold.
I found my dress at Uniquely Couture in New Hampshire. I loved the lace of the dress and the silhouette. I thought it was pretty, simple but still had a wow factor. The train was amazing!
Jim came across a blue and black tux that he loved and was sold. He loved the classic tux with the two toned colors. It was classic and sharp
The most important thing on our wedding day was definitely our vows. Since we had such an intimate ceremony, it was important to us to incorporate our own vows. Jim’s vows were so beautiful! I still get emotional watching the video.
Our advice: Don’t stress! I was such a mental mess before our trip but I was worrying about things I didn’t need to be focused on. Enjoy the moment but don’t let the details stress you out. Everything will be perfect! Remember your day is about just the two of you!
A massive THANK YOU to Amy and Jim for sharing their elopement wedding in Paris with us. It was incredible!
