A treat of an outdoor wedding blog today as we share the work of a perfect team at an outdoor wedding venue just a stones throw away from our own home in Southampton! Photographer Laura Martha partnered with the lovely Valentina from The Stars Inside to really showcase how beautiful our Great British Countryside!

Laura says…

This beautiful British Vineyard Shoot was created to show off the stunning British countryside. We wanted the shoot to reflect the beauty of a British outdoor wedding with nods to Italian and French Vineyard Weddings, showing that it is possible for UK Vineyards to host stunning outdoor weddings. Imagine eating all the fresh, vibrant food that’s on offer in our Countryside whilst sat outdoor watching the sunset roll in with a smooth glass of wine, with dreamy festoon lights lighting up the tables and dancefloor!

Valentina from The Stars Inside was the perfect choice of Stylist and Planner to work with on this shoot co-planning with myself from Laura Martha Photography. She has an eye for detail, elegance and romance, and I feel the whole shoot not only felt timeless, but encapsulated elegance and outdoor romance. We worked together to bring to life our collective love of outdoor weddings that showcased delicious food, copious amount of laughter and of course vibrant wine!

The Venue…

The Three Choirs in Hampshire is a state of the art, family-run winery, who opened its doors to our team very early in the Summer, and what turned out to be one of the hottest days of 2018. We all enjoyed exploring the Vineyard, walking through the vines and searching for grapes which wouldn’t be ripe until August/ September! The venue is nestled away from the busy city of Southampton.

It was important to celebrate feasts, sharing and community at this gorgeous location.

Laura’s Vision…

“I was driving home from Wallingford one day, and had been wondering how to celebrate feasting and community with friends and family, and at that point passed a vineyard. I was at first amazed that we had vineyards in Oxfordshire, but then the idea came that I must show off the British countryside in a vineyard setting.

I set about looking for a venue who hosts weddings, and found Sam at The Three Choirs! As soon as I met Sam I got excited and contacted Valentina to plead her to help me bring together this idea… She didn’t take much persuading, as she could instantly so see potential. It then didn’t take too long to bring together the incredible suppliers we had on board, as everyone felt inspired and excited to be a part of it.

The most important thing for the shoot, was for everyone involved to have fun, and enjoy a beautiful spread of food whilst drinking some fab wine provided by Sam at the Vineyard. I really hope that the shoot makes people consider more UK weddings, with amazing fresh food and wine.”

Stylist Valentina says: “The shoot was designed to break barriers of time and space, to quieten the noise of trend-following, and to celebrate grace and inclusivity in all its forms. We used textures like wood and linen to create a nature-inspired narrative, modernising it with crisp whites, clear glass, and shimmering silver.”

The Cake…

Holly from Holly Clarke Cake Design designed and created the most original cake, that showcase the intricacy of rice paper design. she hand cut all the flowers into the rice paper and attached to the splendid white cake. Holly uses architecture and landscapes are inspiration, utilising textiles, textures and patterns on her cake design. This shoot she wanted to create a modern sophisticated cake, that didn’t become lost in a field of vines. We invested our waistlines to cake testing, so we should make sure our cakes sit centre stage! Holly as become my go to Holly designer, purely based on creative and original designs, and her blooming marvellous personality.

The Stationery

Our stationer Laura Elizabeth Patrick was recommended to us by a good friend, and she was a perfect fit for the vineyard inspired shoot. She created an invite suite which had a beautiful illustration of the venue, sublime calligraphy on the most gorgeous textured paper and card. We felt that a menu on the bread bags would be such an organic way of integrating the stationery into the table-scape and it worked beautifully, which leads me on to the girls at Boxed Weddings!

The Food…

The Girls at Boxed Weddings are truly gorgeous people, who came and brought with them a box of amazing goodies! These wonderful lasses were flexible, creative and so ambitious… you can see how much effort they with Valentina and Illy’s help built the most beautiful table of grazing foods.

I am probably the most passionate person about food, so to meet three equally passionate foodies was a dream. You truly drool at the food overflowing from their assortment of fresh food, intertwined with Gemma’s beautiful floristry from Iris & Co

The Flowers…

Florist Gemma from Iris & Co says: For this inspirational setting, we designed the florals to reflect the textures and hues naturally occurring within the vineyard. Through the bountiful table of food we wove rich foliage with flashes of deep colour, a nod to the rich tones of the grapes nestled within the vines.  We featured  non-traditional flowers including large, pink proteas, hypericum berries, and cascading amaranthus, bringing  a modern feel reminiscent of Italian designers such as Dolce & Gabbana and Valentino.”

Gemma arrived before all of us to get started on her epic floristry, and was working super hard all day to ensure that her hard work didn’t wither in the beautiful sunshine. She laid out the fantastic wreath across the tables which were provided by Linda’s Vintage Hire under the canopy of festoon lights which were provided by and installed by To Have & to Hire Events and to finish off, I had to have the cross back chairs reminiscent of European weddings from Jollies Chair Hire. Laura from By Laura Candles was chosen to come on board and to create an immersive experience. Imagine choosing a candle fragrance that will bring back memories from your big day? Laura sent us half a dozen candles in Rosemary, Thyme and Sage. Laura says The scent was tailored to the style, food, and personality of the editorial, enriching the atmosphere so beautifully captured by Laura in these photographs.”

Brides and Grooms spend time choosing a fragrance that they will wear to remind them of their wedding day, so why not a fragrance to remember your reception for you, and for your guests! The candles were dotted down the table amongst Iris & Co’s floristry.

The Other Details…

Susanne from Nettle Textiles joined us with her beautiful textiles, draping linen across the tables, and providing soft, pastel and bold ribbons for the stunning bouquet. Her ribbons are all hand dyed using plants in small batches, adding a touch of natural luxury to the inspirational shoot. The textiles provided by Nettle Textiles sat beautifully with the textures in the gowns from Elie Blue Bridal, and Deco Flowers simple and elegant earrings and headpiece adds a touch of botanical design and elegance to the modern bridalwear. For our earrings, she was inspired by the buds of soft white freesia, tender and snow-white. The headpiece was inspired the flowers of the Forsythia plant, enhanced with white baroque pearls.

We were over the moon to have award winning Katy Djokic Wedding Hair & Make Up onboard dedicating her morning and lunch to ensuring all hair and make up was perfection! She focused on creating natural, modern and beautiful coverage on both the bride and groom! Katy also absolutely creates incredible hairstyles for weddings, please visit her site. Since our shoot, she has won the regional award for hair stylist.

The Groom…

But, let’s not forget the gents wear! Tailor Made London offer a bespoke suit service, using high tech body scanning to make sure that every suit fits beautifully. We took Dominic to the store to be fitted for two outfits. We went for a navy jacket, as navy is perfect for almost every wedding, however, we also went for a gorgeous linen in Pantone Porsche, a beautiful orangey colour with a small hint of pink. The suit and chinos were very reminiscent of summers in France and Italy.

Mandy and Dominic danced through the vines, having fun in the sun! enjoying the feast, with all the delish suppliers. Just when the sun was starting to set, we dashed back to the vines and headed to the top of the hill to catch those last golden rays of sunshine gleaming through the vines.

A huge thank you to the team responsible for putting this shoot together..Not only was it truly breathtaking but its left me salivating!!! We hope you have enjoyed it too…

Much Love

Emily xx
